I stopped off to wish my bees a good afternoon and to ask after their mother. One worker was clearly in some discomfort.
She had some white sticky stuff on her hind elbow and stuck to the underside of her abdomen. It’s the most frustrating thing to watch this, but I couldn’t really get involved with all the foragers coming and going. She paced up and down outside the hive trying to get it off, without luck. She managed some extraordinary contortions. I have a feeling she had an instinct that she shouldn’t go inside the hive with a potential parasite. Clever bees.
Eventually I did try and scoop her up to see what was stuck to her but she flew off.
